Terms of use
These terms are maintained by the maker of thoughts and describe how the app may be used today.
Your account
You need an account to record, transcribe and back up thoughts. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for activity under your account. One person, one account.
Your content stays yours
Everything you capture — audio, transcripts, refined text, to-dos — belongs to you. The app is granted only the permission needed to store it, sync it to your devices and send it to the speech and language providers that produce transcripts and refinements. You can export or delete it at any time.
Fair use of AI features
Transcription and refinement cost real money per request, so the app applies limits: up to 30 minutes of audio per capture, 5 minutes per edit, 10 images per thought, 5 per task, and a daily processing budget per account. Automating, reselling or bulk-running these features is not allowed.
Trials and payment
A free trial is offered once per person. Deleting and recreating an account with the same email does not grant a second trial. Paid plans, when active, renew until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period.
Acceptable use
Do not use thoughts to store or process content that is illegal, or to record people who have not agreed to be recorded where that is required by your local law. Accounts used for abuse may be suspended.
Availability and liability
Thoughts is provided as-is. It is local-first, so your notes stay on your device even if the service is briefly unavailable, but no service is perfect — keep your own copies of anything critical. The maker is not liable for lost data or indirect losses arising from use of the app.
Changes and contact
These terms may change as the app grows; material changes will be announced in the app. Questions: use the White Box in Settings or email hello@thoughts.app.
